In Boseong, Jeonnam, Drunk Hit-and-Run Driver Urgently Arrested... Victim Dies

Jeonnam Boseong Police Station announced on the 2nd that they had urgently arrested A (56) on charges of causing death by hit-and-run while driving in a state of intoxication (violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes: hit-and-run causing death).

A is accused of hitting and killing B (70), who was walking along the shoulder of a two-lane one-way road in Joseong-myeon, Boseong-gun, around 10 p.m. on the 1st.

It was revealed that A fled the scene without taking any measures to transport B, who was seriously injured in the accident, to the hospital.

A passerby found B collapsed on the road and reported it, but B died after being taken to the hospital.

The police, who responded to the report, arrested A at his residence around 3:30 a.m. on the same day, about five hours after the accident.

According to the investigation, A was driving in a state of intoxication with a blood alcohol concentration at the level warranting license cancellation when the accident occurred.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after conducting a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident with A.
