Gyeongbuk Province's 'Woman of the Year' Award Goes to Poet Yi Yuk-sa's Only Daughter, Mrs. Yi Ok-bi Mrs. Lee Ok-bi.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Lee Ok-bi, the only daughter of poet Lee Yuk-sa, has been selected as the recipient of the 14th Gyeongsangbuk-do Women's Award in the 'Woman of the Year in Gyeongbuk' category.


According to Andong City on the 1st, Lee Ok-bi is the only daughter of independence activist and poet Yuk-sa Lee Won-rok (1904?1944). She has devoted her life to inheriting her father's spirit of independence activism and literary spirit and to promoting these values to future generations.


In particular, as the executive director of the Lee Yuk-sa Memorial Project Association, she has dedicated herself to widely promoting the humanistic values of modern society and the spirit of patriotic loyalty through various lectures and events. She has been recognized for her contributions to elevating the status of women in Gyeongbuk and inheriting the spirit of national defense and veterans' honor.


The Gyeongbuk Women's Award is given annually in accordance with Article 62 of the Gyeongbuk Gender Equality Basic Ordinance to individuals who have contributed to the realization of a gender-equal society, the promotion of women's rights, and the development of local communities. The highest honors are divided into three categories: Woman of the Year, Gender Equality, and Women's Welfare. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award ceremony will be held simply on September 3rd at the Anmin Hall of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government.


Mayor Kwon Young-se of Andong said, "Andong is the region that has produced the most recipients of the Gyeongbuk Women's Award, which has played an important role in raising the self-esteem of women in Gyeongbuk and activating their social participation." He added, "We will continue to discover female talents, inherit their spirit and will, and contribute to protecting women's rights and the development of local communities."
