Curious About 'Hydrogen Electric Cars'? Head to KTX Ulsan Station Current Status and Future Installation Plans of Hydrogen Charging Stations in Ulsan City.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] From the 1st, next-generation vehicles, hydrogen electric cars, will be exhibited at KTX Ulsan Station.

Ulsan City announced on the 1st that it will hold this exhibition event until the end of this year in collaboration with the Korea Hydrogen Industry Association and Hyundai Motor Company.

Hydrogen electric cars and cutaway models that allow visitors to look inside the vehicles will be displayed, and various projects related to the supply of hydrogen electric cars in Ulsan, such as subsidies, tax and fee reductions upon purchase, can be checked.

Also, although an event where visitors can directly see hydrogen electric cars and experience their principles and advantages is temporarily postponed due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 infection, it is planned for the future.

An official from Ulsan City said, “Although the supply of hydrogen electric cars has recently expanded, many people cannot distinguish between hydrogen electric cars and regular electric cars,” adding, “We are holding this event to raise public awareness of hydrogen electric cars and to help citizens realize that the hydrogen economy is approaching our surroundings.”

Ulsan City started supplying hydrogen electric cars in 2014 and currently owns 1,667 vehicles, the largest number nationwide.

In addition, Ulsan has the most hydrogen charging stations in the country, with six stations, accounting for 16% of the 37 hydrogen charging stations nationwide.

By the end of September, two hydrogen charging stations, Together Charging Station (near Yeocheon Five-way Intersection) and Deokha Public Garage Charging Station (inside Deokha Public Garage), will be additionally completed, and three more stations will begin construction by the end of the year, making a total of 11 hydrogen charging stations operational next year.

Since February 13, Ulsan City has started this year’s “Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Supply Project” and provides a subsidy of 34 million KRW (national and city funds) when purchasing a hydrogen electric car.

For detailed information on applying for hydrogen electric vehicle purchase subsidies, please refer to the Ulsan City website or contact the Ulsan City Energy Industry Division or call center.
