[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC) announced on the 1st that it will establish a sustainability category called 'weDO' on its official online store Kolon Mall.
weDO is a platform that focuses on introducing brands pursuing sustainability not only in fashion but also in beauty and lifestyle, bringing together over 30 domestic and international brands that consider humans, animals, and the environment. The purpose is to raise awareness of sustainability, which has recently become a major topic across society, and to increase consumer touchpoints.
weDO introduces brands sequentially by dividing their stories into donation, upcycling, eco-friendly materials, vegan, and more, not just focusing on the products themselves. Representative examples include the 'Jerry Bag,' where purchasing a bag automatically donates a water container bag to Africa, and 'bag all,' which transforms usually disposable single-use bags into reusable bags.
Additionally, in the upcycling category, the story of 'Recode by Nike,' which recently revived Nike's surplus clothing, will also be introduced. This collection will be sold on Kolon Mall starting from the 1st.
weDO also encompasses sustainability-related projects within Kolon FnC besides independent brands. The most representative is Kolon Sports' 'Noah Project,' now in its sixth year, which donates a portion of sales proceeds to environmental protection with the aim of protecting endangered domestic flora and fauna. Other examples include Epigram's endangered species edition T-shirts made from eco-friendly refurbished materials and Kuron's bags made from eco-friendly materials.
Various information related to sustainability will also be introduced through editorial-style content. Covering a wide range of topics from recently trending sustainability terms to eco-friendly materials, product reviews, and interviews, the platform plans to communicate actively with customers.
Kolon FnC plans to donate 1% of the sales generated from weDO to social enterprises dedicated to environmental protection. This is a virtuous cycle designed to introduce products suitable for a sustainable lifestyle and return part of the profits back to the environment. Ji Hosin, director of Kolon FnC's editorial mall business division, stated, "Kolon FnC is the first in the fashion industry to introduce a sustainable lifestyle through an online mall," adding, "We are preparing rich content so that customers can be the first to experience sustainability trends through weDO."
