Family of the late player Ko Yu-min files criminal complaint against Hyundai Engineering & Construction volleyball team owner... Charges include 'fraud, obstruction of business, defamation,' etc. On the morning of the 31st, at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-dong, Seoul, lawyer Park Ji-hoon, who is representing the family of the late athlete Go Yoo-min, held a press conference to file a complaint against the owner of the Hyundai Construction volleyball team.

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The family of the late athlete Go Yu-min, who passed away last month, has filed a complaint with the prosecution against Park Dong-wook, owner of the Hyundai Engineering & Construction volleyball team, on charges including fraud.

Park Ji-hoon, the lawyer representing Go’s family, filed a complaint on the morning of the 31st at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, accusing team owner Park of fraud, obstruction of business, violation of the Labor Standards Act, and defamation of the deceased.

In the complaint, the family claims that Hyundai Engineering & Construction volleyball team deceived Go by promising to trade him to another team in March without any intention or plan to do so, leading him to sign a ‘player contract termination agreement,’ which constitutes fraud.

They also argue that Park requested the Korea Volleyball Federation in May to announce Go as a voluntarily withdrawn player, thereby obstructing the federation’s business.

The family holds Park responsible for forcing Go, who was an attacker, to participate in matches as a ‘libero’ despite the team’s refusal to allow him to play in that position, which they claim violated the worker’s free will and amounted to forced labor.

Additionally, the family added charges of defamation against the deceased Go, stating that most of the statements released by Park to the media on the 20th were false.
