Extremely Few Antisocial Individuals Seriously Destroy Communities for Political Purposes
Attacking Quarantine Officials Is Like Shooting Soldiers Fighting the COVID War
Those Refusing Testing After Participating in Sarangjeil Church and Gwanghwamun Rallies Will Be Held Fully Responsible
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, warned that if a very small number of antisocial individuals, including those refusing COVID-19 testing such as Sarang Jeil Church and participants of the Gwanghwamun rally, do not undergo testing by the 30th, all possible measures will be taken to file criminal charges and claim compensation.
To this end, Governor Lee announced plans to form a 'Diagnostic Testing Legal Support Team' as soon as possible to handle criminal charges and compensation claims against these individuals.
On the 29th, through a Facebook post titled "I have ordered the formation of the Diagnostic Testing Legal Support Team," Governor Lee expressed gratitude, saying, "The vast majority of citizens are voluntarily and actively participating in quarantine efforts ahead of any compulsory measures by the central or local governments."
However, he lamented, "A very small number of antisocial individuals are destroying the community for political purposes and spreading COVID-19 to neighbors, engaging in acts close to biological terrorism," adding, "They are systematically refusing and obstructing diagnostic testing, even committing acts of violence such as hugging and spitting on quarantine officials to infect them."
He continued, "Such behavior was not seen even during the Shincheonji outbreak," and added, "The atrocities of some extreme and antisocial figures are truly regrettable."
Furthermore, he pointed out, "Attacks on quarantine officials are equivalent to shooting soldiers fighting in the COVID war," noting, "A significant number of Sarang Jeil Church gatherings and Gwanghwamun rally participants continue to disobey Gyeonggi Province's diagnostic testing order (until tomorrow, the 30th)."
Governor Lee stated, "Any act that harms the community and refuses the community's legitimate demands must not be tolerated for the preservation of the community," and added, "Although the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency and the joint response team for quarantine efficiency have already been formed, I have instructed the formation of the Diagnostic Testing Legal Support Team, composed of lawyers, the provincial special judicial police, and epidemiological investigators, to professionally handle criminal charges and compensation claims against those refusing testing from Sarang Jeil Church and Gwanghwamun rally participants."
In conclusion, he sternly warned, "Anyone participating in Sarang Jeil Church or the Gwanghwamun rally who refuses testing without a legitimate reason will be criminally charged without exception and all related quarantine costs will be claimed, even if it requires significant time and expense," adding, "The deadline will be tomorrow (the 30th)."
