Concerns Become Reality: First Visitor Confirmed After Guesthouse Owner and Staff Cases
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Concerns about the spread of COVID-19 originating from a guesthouse in Jeju are becoming a reality.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 28th at around 10:30 PM that the 38th COVID-19 confirmed case in the province has been identified. This is the first confirmed case among visitors following the guesthouse owner and staff.
The 38th confirmed case, Mr. A, had visited the Rooftop Garden Guesthouse located in Namwon-eup, Seogwipo City. Around 3 PM on the 28th, a specimen was collected at Seogwipo Medical Center. Later, while in self-quarantine, he received a confirmed diagnosis from the Jeju Provincial Institute of Health and Environment at around 10:30 PM the same day.
Jeju's quarantine authorities have begun an epidemiological investigation into the 38th confirmed case. They plan to disclose information as soon as Mr. A's movement paths are identified and to implement disinfection measures at the visited locations.
Meanwhile, a total of three confirmed cases (36th, 37th, and 38th) have been reported in the Jeju area related to the Rooftop Garden Guesthouse.
