Daegu Yearam School Opening in March Next Year to Prioritize Admission and Transfer of Special Education Students
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 27th that it will publicize the '2021 Academic Year Special School and High School Placement Plan' as of the 1st for priority placement of special education students ahead of the general school admission process.
The priority placement schools include all 10 special schools, including the (tentative name) Daegu Yearam School scheduled to open on March 1, 2021, as well as general high schools and specialized high schools. Interested students and parents must visit the respective schools and the Daegu Special Education Support Center from September 3 to 15 for individual consultations and then submit a 'Placement Application.'
In particular, students and parents wishing to transfer to Yearam School among 2nd to 6th graders in elementary school, 2nd to 3rd graders in middle school, and 2nd to 3rd graders in high school, in line with the opening of Daegu Yearam School, must submit a 'Reassignment Application' to their current school within the application period.
Newly selected special education students must request diagnosis and evaluation at the Special Education Support Center of their affiliated education support office by the 15th. After the Special Education Support Center conducts the relevant tests, the results must be submitted to the Early Childhood Special Education Division of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education. Based on the received 'Placement Applications' and diagnosis and evaluation results, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education will notify students and parents of the review results by the end of October.
An official from the Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "We will do our best to ensure that students and parents wishing to enter special schools and high schools or transfer to Daegu Yearam School receive appropriate educational placement through personalized consultations."
