BMW Korea Holds Launch Ceremony for 4th BMW Ausbildung Cohort

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] BMW Group Korea announced on the 27th that it held the 4th launch ceremony of the German-style work-study dual program 'BMW Ausbildung.'

The 4th BMW Ausbildung launch ceremony was held online for the first time considering the COVID-19 pandemic situation. About 130 people, including 50 newly selected trainees, trainers, and executives participated. Starting with a welcome speech by Hansang Yoon, President of BMW Group Korea, there was an online education session on the brand's history and after-sales process, followed by an orientation on the upcoming practical training schedule.

Ausbildung is a German dual vocational education program that combines work and study, considered one of the secrets to the success of Germany, a manufacturing powerhouse. The Ausbildung introduced domestically focuses on the automotive maintenance part of Germany's work-study dual education course, called 'Auto-Mechatroniker,' and consists of a total 3-year curriculum combining on-site corporate practical training (70%) and university theoretical education (30%).

Upon completion of the program, they earn a professional associate degree. Additionally, they obtain an educational certificate granted by the German Federal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and have the opportunity to be employed by the companies where they worked.

Hansang Yoon, President of BMW Group Korea, said, "I hope the BMW Ausbildung program becomes a valuable opportunity for each successful candidate to design a meaningful life and realize their self-identity. Having passed various challenges during difficult times and joining as members of BMW official dealers, I hope you grow into key talents leading the Korean automotive industry."

BMW has played a central role in introducing and expanding Ausbildung domestically to provide quality educational environments and stable jobs for Korean youth aspiring to become experts in the future automotive field. Since 2017, BMW has hired 217 trainees, more than half of the total Ausbildung participants, fulfilling its social responsibility and contributing to youth job creation.
