[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Boseong County's facility to prevent gas safety accidents, implemented for the purpose of resident convenience administration, is receiving positive responses from the residents.
According to Boseong County on the 26th, the county installed gas automatic shut-off devices free of charge in three villages, including Hodong Village in Deukryang-myeon, which was designated as a dementia-safe village this year, on the 25th.
The installation of the gas automatic shut-off devices was carried out in collaboration with the Jeonnam Regional Dementia Center and the National Health Insurance Service, and support was provided to 20 households within the dementia-safe villages based on applications received.
This gas automatic shut-off device distribution project is expected to contribute to creating a safe living environment by preventing gas and fire accidents caused by increased incidents such as gas accidents due to memory loss, one of the characteristics of an aging society.
A resident of the village, Mr. Lee, said, "I think the installation of gas automatic shut-off devices is a necessary project for dementia patients and elderly people living alone," adding, "I hope more residents can benefit and live without worries about fire accidents."
Boseong County has designated and operates three locations?Duseul Village in Boseong-eup, Neungmuk Village in Gyeombaek-myeon, and Hodong Village in Deukryang-myeon?as dementia-safe villages to create a dementia-friendly environment where dementia patients and their families can live safely and independently in daily life and freely participate in social activities.
Meanwhile, to comply with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, the project team contacted all recipients in advance to check for any COVID-19 related symptoms before visiting households, measured temperatures upon arrival, and proceeded with installation only if no abnormalities were found.
