Kit Composed of Self-Check Survey, Mind Care Guidebook, Coloring Book, and Colored Pencils
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] As the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases continues to record triple digits daily and the spread persists, the number of people complaining of 'Corona Blue,' referring to depression or lethargy caused by restrictions on daily life, is increasing.
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Seoyangho) is receiving positive responses by providing psychological counseling and distributing disaster mental health support kits for local residents experiencing Corona Blue.
The disaster mental health support kit produced by the Jung-gu Mental Health Welfare Center is designed to help people who must spend a lot of time at home to self-assess their mental health and lightly relieve stress, thereby achieving psychological stability.
The kit includes ▲ a mental health self-assessment questionnaire ▲ an infectious disease stress care guide ▲ a pouch or toothbrush and toothpaste set ▲ a coloring book ▲ colored pencils ▲ a bookmark ▲ a hygiene kit ▲ dalgona candy, making it easy for anyone from children to adults to use.
Any Jung-gu resident experiencing psychological difficulties due to Corona Blue can receive the kit, and they can get information by contacting the Jung-gu Mental Health Welfare Center. If desired, free psychological counseling for Corona Blue is also available at the center.
Meanwhile, the district also supports online self-assessment through 'Check My Mind' on the center’s website to help residents maintain a healthy daily life. When completing the self-assessment online, a report is sent via email, and users receive stress management methods, ways to alleviate anxiety or depression, and personalized mental health information.
Mr. Kim, who visited the Jung-gu Mental Health Welfare Center last month for counseling and received a kit, said, "As COVID-19 has lasted longer than expected, my body and mind have become tired and exhausted. The trip I planned this year was canceled, and staying home during the vacation season felt very frustrating and depressing. Still, receiving psychological counseling and the kit made me smile unconsciously and feel like I got a surprise gift," expressing satisfaction.
Seoyangho, Mayor of Jung-gu, said, "We will establish a counseling system that anyone can comfortably use to help those experiencing psychological difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation maintain a healthy daily life, and we will carefully attend to even the smallest details."
