Looking at the employment rates in Jeollanam-do for the first half of 2020 by county and city, Sinan-gun (76.6%), Goheung-gun (74.6%), and Haenam-gun (74.3%) ranked highest, while Mokpo-si (55.5%), Suncheon-si (59.7%), and Muan-gun (60.7%) ranked lowest.

Regarding the number of employed persons, while the nationwide cities and counties both decreased by -2.1%, Jeonnam showed the highest numbers in Yeosu-si (142,000 people), Suncheon-si (136,000 people), and Mokpo-si (108,000 people).

In terms of unemployment rate, the unemployment rate in nationwide city areas was 3.6%, which is 2.1% higher than the 1.5% in county areas. In Jeonnam, Mokpo-si (3.2%), Yeongam-gun (2.8%), and Suncheon-si (2.5%) ranked highest. The number of unemployed was high in Mokpo-si (4,000 people) and Suncheon-si (4,000 people).
