Naver explained, "Smart Around is helping the digital transformation and sales growth of alley shops."
Smart Around is a service where AI analyzes the user's gender, age group, current location, etc., to recommend restaurants or places worth visiting.
The revisit rate of Smart Around has been continuously increasing, exceeding 30%.
According to Naver's 'D-Commerce Report 2019,' users who discovered alley shops through Smart Around were 23.2 times more likely to call the shop or use the navigation function than those who found them through keyword searches.
In keyword searches, shops with existing high recognition were often connected to users, but Smart Around showed a tendency to connect users regardless of existing recognition.
Choi Ji-hoon, Smart Around's lead manager, said, "By using AI technology, we are expanding the touchpoints between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and users, supporting actual connections through online reservations, navigation, and calls." He added, "Smart Around plans to offer alley shops in more diverse categories such as cosmetics and fashion accessories, not just restaurants."
