[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Dog trainer Kang Hyung-wook was bitten on the knee by an American Bully, causing the filming to be halted.
On the 24th, the KBS 2TV variety show "Dogs Are Incredible" featured Kang Hyung-wook training two American Bullies that displayed aggressive tendencies.
On the broadcast, the owners of the American Bullies Toby and Baki said, "I was living alone in Seoul and feeling lonely when I came to know about American Bullies and learned that they are not large dogs. So I decided to adopt one."
The owner added, "But recently, Toby has been showing aggressive behavior when seeing other dogs."
In the observation footage, Baki was seen mounting the production staff and getting excited.
Baki suddenly became excited while standing still and lunged at trainer Kang Hyung-wook, attempting to mount and bite his thigh.
Watching this, Kang Hyung-wook said, "This is not mounting but an attempt to attack," and added, "Some dogs do not show their true nature when muzzled. In that case, proper training cannot be done," as he removed the muzzle and continued the training.
Then, when Toby went to a corner and started biting a doll, Kang said, "I have seen many cases that go to the extreme," and added, "Even though they are doing something very dangerous, dogs often act like 'I'm just playing.' So I am worried. I guarantee that if this dog meets a small dog, it will kill it."
During the continued training, Baki also tried to mount Kang Hyung-wook, but Kang stopped him.
Then Baki began to show aggression by biting and eventually bit Kang Hyung-wook’s knee.
As a result, the production team stopped filming to allow Kang Hyung-wook to receive treatment and headed to the hospital.
A week later, Kang Hyung-wook visited the owners’ home again and resumed training.
The owner apologized, saying, "I am very sorry. This is the first time it has bitten this badly," and added, "I will be more careful when meeting people."
Kang Hyung-wook responded, "It’s okay since it was just a slight bite," and said, "The owners were also very surprised because they did not expect Baki and Toby to have this level of aggression."
He added, "It’s really fortunate that the owners appeared on 'Dogs Are Incredible,' and what I do is to improve their braking performance."
