'TikTok' Lawsuit Decision 'Banned in US'... Chinese Foreign Ministry "Supports It"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed support for TikTok's decision to file a lawsuit against the United States. TikTok, a video application owned by China's ByteDance, has decided to sue in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's executive orders, including a 'ban on transactions.'

Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the 24th, "China supports this company in using legal means to protect its legitimate rights and interests," adding, "We will continue to take necessary measures to safeguard the lawful rights of Chinese companies."

He emphasized, "The United States is targeting Chinese companies like TikTok under the pretext of national security." He continued, "The U.S. is pushing Chinese companies such as TikTok, WeChat, and Huawei into a corner because it fears their growth." He criticized, "The U.S. crackdown on Chinese companies denies market economy and fair competition principles and tramples on international rules, resembling an act of robbery."

Earlier, on the 6th, President Trump issued an executive order banning transactions with ByteDance and Tencent, the parent company of WeChat, within 45 days, citing concerns that the Chinese Communist Party could access personal information. On the 14th, he issued another executive order requiring ByteDance to sell all its U.S. assets, including TikTok, within 90 days.
