[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man who threatened nearby passengers after being pointed out for not wearing a mask on the subway was booked by the police.
The Jungbu Police Station in Seoul announced on the 24th that they have booked and are investigating a man in his 70s, Mr. A, on charges of intimidation and insult.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of threatening, saying "I will annihilate your entire family," when passengers on Line 2 subway train around 5:45 p.m. on the 21st of this month asked him to "wear the mask properly." The passenger who was victimized reported this to the police after the incident.
The police analyzed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and arrested Mr. A the next day, taking him in for voluntary questioning. The police plan to further investigate other passengers who witnessed the situation and decide on Mr. A's legal disposition.
