This is the first time a Korean artist has topped this chart. The previous highest record was BLACKPINK's "How You Like That," which reached number two on June 2. BTS had held the highest record with "Boy With Luv," which peaked at number three.
Additionally, "Dynamite," released at 1 PM Korean time (midnight Eastern Time, USA) on the 21st, was streamed 7,778,950 times worldwide on its first day, setting the record for the most global streams on Spotify on a song's release day this year.
Moreover, among the Top 50 charts by country and region, the song reached number three in the United States and number 15 in the United Kingdom, setting new personal bests, and ranked number one in 14 countries and regions.
"Dynamite" is a disco pop song characterized by its refreshing melody. Through lyrics expressing happiness and confidence, it conveys the preciousness of life and the specialness of living. The members have expressed hope that the song will provide strength to many people going through difficult times due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, BTS plans to release EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and acoustic versions of "Dynamite" at 1 PM Korean time on the 24th.
