[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] 'Defector Actress No. 1' Kim Hye-young returns to broadcasting through TV Chosun's 'Moranbong Club' to share her recent life.
Kim Hye-young will appear on 'Moranbong Club,' airing at 9 PM on the 23rd, declaring her comeback and revealing her recent status after a long time.
Kim Hye-young, who defected in 1998, gained popularity with the title of 'Defector Actress No. 1' and worked as an actress and singer. She has appeared in the musical play 'Hongdoya Uljima' in March 2009, SBS TV weekend drama 'Deogi' in 2000, and KBS 1TV drama 'Daechunamu Saranggeollyeonne.'
In North Korea, where entertainment business is not freely conducted, talents are nurtured through art schools. Kim Hye-young is known to be a graduate of the 'Pyongyang University of Theatre and Film,' which requires appearance, skills, and family background to be admitted even in North Korea.
On this day, Kim Hye-young said, "My original dream was to become a teacher like my mother," and revealed that before entering Pyongyang University of Theatre and Film, she was preparing to become a teacher at a provincial teachers' college.
Also, during her university days, Kim Hye-young said, "I defected led by my parents' hands," and added, "My father had been planning the defection for a long time," arousing curiosity about the story.
In particular, a special connection between Kim Hye-young and comedian Kim Ji-sun will be revealed. The two previously appeared in the 'Flower Bud Art Troupe' on KBS 2TV variety show 'Gag Concert.'
Recalling that time, Kim Hye-young said, "'If it weren't for 'Gag Concert,' I wouldn't have been able to make myself known like this," and added, "It introduced me, a serious actress, to a new field of comedy and guided me a lot as a senior broadcaster."
On this day, the two will perform the 'Flower Bud Art Troupe' stage together to commemorate their first joint broadcast in a long time.
TV Chosun's 'Moranbong Club' airs every Sunday around 9 PM.
