Model SM-F415... Memory 64GB
Foldable Device with Competitive Pricing Expected to Launch
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics is developing a foldable smartphone at a more affordable price point than the products currently on the market.
On the 20th (local time), IT specialized media SamMobile reported that it has identified a model presumed to be a foldable smartphone with the model name 'SM-F415' among Samsung Electronics' lineup under development. Model names containing 'F' are all foldable products, and it is highly likely to be a successor to the Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700) and Z Fold2 (SM-F916).
The new foldable phone will be equipped with 64GB or 128GB of memory, which is less than the Galaxy Fold's 512GB or the Galaxy Z Fold2 models that start from 256GB. It is expected to be released in three colors: black, green, and blue.
The most affordable model among foldable smartphones released so far is the clamshell design Galaxy Z Flip (1.65 million KRW). Since the size of the foldable display largely determines the price, the new foldable smartphone is also likely to inherit the clamshell design.
If a foldable phone priced in the low 1 million KRW range is released, the lower price barrier could attract consumers who hesitated due to budget constraints. SamMobile explained, "It is already known that Samsung plans to release more foldable phones in the future, and a low-cost foldable product is one of the cards Samsung can play."
They added, "Excluding the large cover screen like the Galaxy Z Fold2, affordable foldable products are possible, and mid-range specifications may be adopted to reduce the price. However, it is difficult to compromise on the foldable display or hinge due to durability, so lowering component costs is not easy."
