Dongjak-gu, 2020. University-Linked Lifelong Education Student Recruitment

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) has selected the '2020 University-Linked Lifelong Education Program' to provide lifelong education to residents by utilizing the excellent educational infrastructure of universities, and will recruit students starting from the 24th.

Last month, through the recruitment of entrusted institutions to operate the university-linked lifelong education program, 5 universities (15 programs) applied in four fields: ▲Local Leader Training Course ▲Vocational Competency Education ▲4th Industrial Revolution Specialized Course ▲Humanities, Liberal Arts & Cultural Arts, and as a result of the final screening, 7 programs were selected.

First, Ewha Womans University's 'Dongjak-Ewha Academy' will cover topics in the local leader training course such as ▲Creating a Village Community ▲Becoming a Local Talent ▲Developing a Perspective on the World.

In the vocational competency education field, Sookmyung Women's University's 'Senior Health Leisure Instructor Course' and Kyonggi University's 'Children's Cooking Instructor Course' were selected.

The Senior Health Leisure Instructor Course aims to obtain certifications for ▲Senior Health Play Instructor Level 1 and ▲Laughter Coaching Instructor Level 1, while the Children's Cooking Instructor Course aims for the Korean Children's Cooking Instructor Level 1 certification.

In the 4th Industrial Revolution specialized course field, Soongsil University will offer ▲Python Course Applied to Real Life and ▲Becoming a VR/AR Creator, and in the humanities, liberal arts & cultural arts field, Sookmyung Women's University will conduct the 'Discovering Food and Beverage Anew' program and Chongshin University's 'Small Piano in My Hand, Kalimba' program.

Residents or workers in the area who wish to participate can apply through the district office website by September 11. If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, students will be selected by computer lottery, and lectures will be held from September to November in university classrooms. However, due to the spread of COVID-19 in the community, the lecture schedule may be postponed or changed to online education.

For more details, inquiries can be made through the district office website or the Education Policy Division.

In response to the elevation of social distancing to level 2, the district changed the offline neighborhood learning center programs in August to non-face-to-face online education and is additionally recruiting online learners.

The recruitment programs include ▲Noryangjin 2-dong 'That's All Hand Knitting', 'Ink Wash Painting at Its Peak' ▲Sangdo 1-dong 'Poetry Song Creation Course', 'Reading Club' ▲Sangdo 4-dong 'Calligraphy with Brush', 'Artfully an Artist' ▲Sadang 2-dong 'Western Craft Macrame', 'Paper Art', etc.

Residents who wish to apply can do so through the education portal page on the district office website.

Yoon Soyeon, head of the Education Policy Division, said, “Through the university-linked lifelong education program, we have been able to support high-quality lifelong education for residents by utilizing the excellent educational infrastructure of universities,” and added, “We ask for strict compliance with personal quarantine rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
