Seongsu-dong 'Clio Headquarters' Wins Seoul Architecture Award Grand Prize


[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] Seoul City announced on the 20th that the Clio Headquarters Building (designed by Jae-yong Lim, OCA Architects) was selected as the Grand Prize winner of the 38th Seoul Architecture Awards.


The Clio Headquarters Building, located in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, is composed of units grouped in four-floor segments. This design was praised for encapsulating the complex urban context of Seongsu-dong, offering views of Namsan, Seoul Forest, and the Han River.


The Excellence Awards were given to ▲ Songpa Book Museum ▲ Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital, Ewha Womans University College of Medicine ▲ Jungnim Warehouse ▲ Tongui-dong Brickwell ▲ Airport High School.


Separately from the expert judging, the Citizen Sympathy Special Award, selected by 1,198 citizens, was awarded to ▲ National Aviation Museum ▲ Tongui-dong Brickwell ▲ Nodeul Island.


The winning designers receive commendations from the Mayor of Seoul, and the building owners receive commemorative plaques to be attached to the buildings. The award ceremony will be held on October 16 at the opening event of the '2020 Seoul Architecture Festival.'
