A total of 167 companies applied; after the 1st document screening and 2nd presentation evaluation, 21 companies were finally selected... Full-scale promotion of the 'Campus Town Comprehensive Project' aiming to revitalize the local economy through startup support
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee), together with Seoul National University, announced the results of the Campus Town resident company recruitment competition targeting startup companies with potential to grow into global enterprises.
From June 15 to July 10, a total of 167 companies applied, and after fierce competition through the first document screening and the second presentation screening, the event concluded successfully.
The district initially aimed to select 15 companies but ultimately selected 21 companies considering the large number of outstanding applicants.
In this competition, innovative technologies, global expansion, and verified business items of startup companies were selected and evaluated, and excellent companies from various fields such as ▲Artificial Intelligence (AI) ▲Big Data ▲Fintech ▲Biotech ▲Smart Health were chosen.
The 21 selected startup companies will sequentially move into three Campus Town base centers located in Nakseongdae-dong and Daehak-dong, including 'Startup HERE-RO 2, 3, 4' starting from September.
They will also receive Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University's startup support programs such as ▲education and consulting hosted by Seoul National University professors and researchers ▲strategic consulting related to intellectual property ▲professional consulting in law, accounting, and taxation ▲regular IR and demo days ▲investment attraction opportunities.
Meanwhile, Gwanak-gu and Seoul National University were selected last December for the Seoul City Campus Town comprehensive project, accelerating regional economic revitalization through the creation of a startup valley where the university and the local community coexist.
Startup support facilities will be established in Daehak-dong and Nakseongdae-dong as two major bases, and various startup and regional cooperation programs utilizing Seoul National University's manpower, technology, and startup infrastructure will be operated centered around these hubs.
Starting with 『Startup HERE-RO 2 (Bongcheon-ro 535), 4 (Sillim-ro 134)』, which will open in September this year, 'Startup HERE-RO 3 (Sillim-ro 117)' will open in December, and Seoul National University plans to establish 'Startup HERE-RO 1 (Nakseongdae-dong)' by 2021, creating a total of four startup base centers to provide residency benefits and various startup programs to about 70 companies.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “This resident company recruitment competition has laid the foundation for outstanding companies with potential to settle in Gwanak-gu,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate with Seoul National University to help startups grow globally and ensure that the Campus Town creation project proceeds smoothly so that the local economy can be revitalized through startups.”
