[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Asphalt manufacturing company SG announced on the 19th that it signed an MOU with the Korea Testing & Research Institute (hereinafter KTR) on the 18th.
This MOU is a business agreement related to the discovery of new companies and business expansion linked to testing and joint research and development in the field of harmful substance and odor reduction generated from asphalt production plants.
KTR, established in 1969, is a leading domestic testing, certification, and technical consulting institution that issues accredited test reports essential for asphalt product supply (such as asphalt quality evaluation) and conducts environmental inspections and certifications.
Additionally, KTR provides testing, certification, and technical support services across all industrial sectors including healthcare, chemical/environment, electrical/electronics, and medical devices. Currently, it performs designated tasks for major government ministries such as the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Following the signing of this business agreement, SG and KTR plan to hold promotional and consultation events for KTR targeting approximately 550 asphalt business sites nationwide and for SG’s eco-friendly equipment EGR+. Furthermore, SG and KTR will jointly collaborate on marketing activities for eco-friendly equipment.
In particular, by the end of this year, they agreed to jointly establish a foundation for providing related testing and certification services targeting asphalt manufacturers who must install asphalt manufacturing facilities that meet air pollution emission reduction standards for odor, benzo(a)pyrene, formaldehyde, benzene, and other substances.
An SG official stated, “Through the business agreement with KTR, we expect to verify the technology and marketability of the EGR+ eco-friendly equipment and accelerate the distribution of EGR+ eco-friendly equipment to over 550 asphalt factories nationwide.”
Meanwhile, SG signed a business agreement on June 4 with Seo-gu Office of Incheon City to promote a ‘joint project for eco-friendly asphalt equipment.’ Based on the successful distribution of eco-friendly asphalt equipment domestically, SG is currently pursuing patent registration in China to enter the Chinese market.
