Ediya Coffee Launches Two Types of Soft and Chewy 'Taiwanese-Style Sandwiches'

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Ediya Coffee expanded its convenience food lineup on the 18th by launching two new Taiwanese-style sandwiches made with tangjong bread, which offers a chewy texture.

The two new products were introduced following the high popularity of last year’s Taiwanese-style “Ham and Cheese Sandwich,” allowing customers to choose from a wider variety of Taiwanese-style menu items. Taiwanese-style sandwiches have been a popular item since last year among consumers in their 20s and 30s, attracting attention with their exotic and sweet flavors and charming visuals.

Ediya Coffee’s Taiwanese-style sandwiches are designed for busy modern consumers who can purchase and eat them immediately at the store without complicated preparation. Made with tangjong bread, which is dough boiled in water, these sandwiches have a chewier and moister texture compared to regular bread. They are easy to digest, making them suitable not only as a snack to enjoy with coffee but also as a meal.

The two new Taiwanese-style sandwiches consist of the “Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam Sandwich” and the “Red Bean and Cream Sandwich.” The “Peanut Butter and Strawberry Jam Sandwich” combines savory peanut butter, sweet strawberry jam, and smoked ham for a refreshing taste, while the “Red Bean and Cream Sandwich” contains red bean paste and buttercream sauce, offering a chewy texture along with a sweet flavor.

The price for each of the two new products is 2,100 won.

Kim Ju-ye, Head of Marketing, said, “As more customers seek quick meals at stores, we decided to introduce additional convenience food products. We plan to continue offering a variety of convenience foods that pair well with coffee.”
