[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] On the 14th, a passenger plane departing from Jeju International Airport to Seoul was canceled due to a sensor malfunction caused by the heatwave, causing inconvenience to about 200 passengers.
According to the Jeju Headquarters of Korea Airports Corporation on the 14th, Air Busan flight BX8010, scheduled to depart Jeju Airport at around 4:20 PM and head to Gimpo Airport, was canceled due to an aircraft malfunction.
The airflow device sensor attached to the left side of the aircraft body reportedly failed to operate as it could not withstand the intense heat from strong sunlight.
The airport fire brigade dispatched and sprayed 5,000 liters of water on the aircraft to cool down the sensor, but it did not return to normal, resulting in the cancellation.
It was reported that about 200 passengers were on board this aircraft.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Jeju experienced a heatwave warning with the highest daytime temperature soaring to 36.3 degrees Celsius, the highest this year.
