Hansung-sook Naver CEO 2.3 Billion KRW... Josuyong Kakao CEO 590 Million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Kim Taek-jin, CEO of NCSoft, maintained his position as the 'highest-paid' in the IT industry by receiving 13.2 billion KRW in compensation in the first half of this year.
According to the semi-annual reports of IT companies on the 14th, CEO Kim received a total of 13.292 billion KRW, including a salary of 1.016 billion KRW and a bonus of 12.276 billion KRW in the first half. This amount is more than double the 6.248 billion KRW he received in the first half of last year.
NCSoft stated, "As the CEO, he led the development and commercialization of 'Lineage M' and 'Lineage 2M' at the forefront, achieving simultaneous first and second place in mobile game sales, and thus was awarded a special long-term incentive of 5 billion KRW." CEO Kim also topped the salary rankings in the game and IT industry in the first half of last year.
Yoon Jae-soo, NCSoft's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), received 2.942 billion KRW, including a bonus of 2.534 billion KRW, and Lee Sung-gu, Executive Director of NCSoft, received 2.27 billion KRW, including a bonus of 2.012 billion KRW.
Kwon Young-sik, CEO of Netmarble, received a total of 2.036 billion KRW, including a salary of 265 million KRW and an additional 1.762 billion KRW from exercising stock options.
Bang Jun-hyuk, founder and chairman of Netmarble, received a salary of 690 million KRW. Vice President Baek Young-hoon received a total of 663 million KRW, including exercising stock options worth 450 million KRW.
At Naver, CEO Han Sung-sook received 2.36 billion KRW, Chief Communications Officer (CCO) Chae Sun-joo received 2.092 billion KRW, and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Choi In-hyuk received 2.072 billion KRW. Naver founder and Global Investment Officer (GIO) Lee Hae-jin received 1.158 billion KRW.
At Kakao, co-CEO Cho Soo-yong received 593 million KRW. Former executives, including former CEO Im Ji-hoon (3.24 billion KRW) and former AI Development Division leader Kim Byung-hak (2.399 billion KRW), benefited from the recent surge in Kakao's stock price through exercising stock options. The salaries of Kakao co-CEO Yeo Min-soo and Kakao Board Chairman Kim Beom-su were below 500 million KRW and thus were not disclosed.
Meanwhile, the average salary per employee was 61.54 million KRW at Naver and 53 million KRW at Kakao, respectively.
