Suncheon City Women's Organizations Continue Volunteer Activities and Donations for Flood Recovery

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Women’s organizations in Suncheon City are visiting Hwangjeon-myeon in Suncheon and Gurye County, which suffered heavy damage due to the recent heavy rains, to participate in flood recovery and donation efforts.

Starting on the 11th with a gathering of housewives who think of their hometown, the Suncheon branch of the Korea Women Consumers Federation, the Suncheon branch of the Korea Ladies Association, the Women’s Association of the Suncheon Volunteer Fire Brigade Union, the Women’s Association of the Suncheon branch of the Korea Freedom Federation, the Suncheon Women’s Volunteer Service Corps, the Suncheon Young Women’s Christian Association, the Suncheon Women’s Organizations Council, the Suncheon Saemaul Women’s Association, the Women-Friendly Citizen Participation Group, and the Cheoljjukhoe delivered relief supplies worth approximately 12 million won, including laundry detergent, cup noodles, kimchi, and wet wipes, along with on-site volunteer activities.

Representatives from each organization said, “We hope to offer some comfort and help to the flood victims who have lost their homes and are grieving due to the recent continuous heavy rains and landslides,” and added, “We pray that the local residents can quickly return to their daily lives through prompt recovery.”

Going forward, the Suncheon branch of the Korea Mothers’ Association, the Suncheon Federation of the Korea Life Improvement Association, and the Women’s Association of the Suncheon Council for the Right Living Movement plan to actively participate in recovery activities, deliver relief supplies, and also join the campaign to collect spare clothes and usable home appliances to help the flood-affected areas.
