AI Tech Company Conan Technology Leads AI Digital Education Service Optimized for the Untact Era

Conan Technology (CEO Kim Young-seom) is joining the massive transformation of 'digital transformation' in the 'education' sector in line with the government's announcement to expand the Digital New Deal AI convergence project.

The Korean version of the New Deal related to education focuses on boldly moving away from traditional methods to establish an 'online education integrated platform.' It aims to provide a blended online and offline learning environment and customized content across the entire spectrum, from elementary, middle, and high school curricula to universities and vocational education. Conan Technology, active in the education sector, plans to accelerate digital transformation services for non-face-to-face education infrastructure at elementary, middle, and high schools as well as universities nationwide through AI technologies in chatbot (language processing) and multimedia (visual recognition, voice recognition) fields, centered on its Intelligent Content Business Division.

In particular, among the digital transformation items for educational infrastructure, the focus is on creating digital-based educational infrastructure for elementary, middle, and high schools and expanding the strengthening of online education at universities nationwide. To this end, it is undertaking the digital ecosystem transformation by integrating educational multimedia content management with AI voice recognition technology.

The construction of non-face-to-face online education services and the digital transformation of educational infrastructure proceed through the following steps.

First, high-resolution large-capacity materials filmed at each educational institution are converted to low resolution. This serves as the foundation for providing optimal streaming services. In particular, each educational institution can easily and conveniently manage and store the collected content assets. Based on the collected educational content, the speaker's voice is extracted from the video, and using the extracted voice, a deep learning-based AI training voice and language model is created, along with the construction of an AI training voice dataset. The previously created AI training voice and language model is optimized to provide automatic subtitle services to users based on specialized models for each professor and subject. Conan Technology currently provides platform-based online education services at specialized online education institutions such as Korea National Open University and Ajou University’s Center for Teaching and Learning Support.

Conan Technology has integrated AI voice recognition technology into its educational content management platform. The multimedia educational content management platform can extract and manage voice data using the collected video data, minimizing the cost and effort of building learning datasets. For the AI voice recognition subtitle generation service, building AI training data models is essential, so Conan Technology plans to secure AI training datasets from three perspectives: ▲standardization ▲data sharing ▲diversification of lecture learning domains. AI deep learning techniques such as supervised learning (learning with labeled answers), unsupervised learning (clustering similar data without labeled answers), and reinforcement learning (learning by maximizing rewards and minimizing penalties) are also applied. As a method to continuously strengthen data models, it is expected to improve voice and language recognition rates and accuracy by educational domain.

Kim Kyu-hoon, Group Leader of Conan Technology’s Future Strategy Group, stated, “The multimedia educational content management platform is an essential platform for the development of artificial intelligence (AI), and the AI voice recognition automatic subtitle service, which integrates AI voice recognition technology, is planned based on providing equal educational services to vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities, the elderly, and multicultural students.” He added, “Conan Technology will continue to make every effort to expand digital-based educational infrastructure through sustained R&D investment.”
