All tested negative in this investigation. The Fire Headquarters decided to conduct additional tests on 60 people as a preventive measure. Furthermore, 15 close contacts who worked together will undergo self-quarantine for two weeks even after testing negative.


The Pohang fire station employee (39), who was confirmed positive the previous day, had visited the home of a confirmed case in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province on the 9th and 10th, and after developing a fever, was tested at the Pohang Health Center on the 13th, resulting in a positive diagnosis. He was admitted to Andong Medical Center. His spouse and two daughters tested negative.


In relation to the 55th COVID-19 patient in the Pohang area reported on the same day, Mayor Lee Kang-deok held an emergency countermeasure meeting and promptly entered a response posture by preparing thorough quarantine measures and strengthening social distancing.


Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, "With the vacation season, there is a high risk of exposure to COVID-19 cluster infections not only in indoor spaces with many unspecified visitors but also due to increased outdoor activities," and instructed the relevant departments to prepare urgent special measures.
