[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] Choi Mo (26), who was prosecuted for handing over illegally accessed personal information to Cho Joo-bin (25, detained and indicted), the operator of the 'Baksa Room', while working as a social service agent (public service worker), was sentenced to prison in the first trial.

On the 14th, Judge Jang Won-jeong of the Criminal Division 25 at the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Choi, who was detained and indicted for violating the Personal Information Protection Act, to two years in prison.

The court stated, "Choi illegally leaked personal information to Cho and others, fully aware of the illegal purpose, and some of the information handed over was used in Cho's crimes," adding, "Choi's criminal nature is quite serious."

It continued, "Choi did not cooperate with the investigation at all and was only focused on concealment, and also failed to provide a reasonable explanation regarding the profits obtained from the crime."

Previously, Choi was prosecuted for handing over illegally accessed personal information to Cho while assisting with the issuance of resident registration certificates and extracts at a community service center in Seoul. He is currently discharged from service and no longer working at the community center.
