Changwon City Opens 'Social Economy Enterprise Startup Academy'

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City, Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it opened the ‘2020 Changwon-type Social Economy Enterprise Startup Academy’ for 20 citizens at the 3rd floor auditorium of the Workers' Welfare Town in Palyong-dong, Uichang-gu.

Hosted by the Changwon Social Economy Support Center and running until November, the Startup Academy was established to enhance citizens' understanding of social economy enterprises, boost their entrepreneurial will, support the transition and establishment of Changwon-type social economy enterprises, and discover and nurture social economy enterprises to expand the city’s social economy ecosystem.

The academy program consists of four courses: ▲Basic education on social economy ▲Advanced startup education ▲Business management consulting ▲Follow-up support projects.

Additionally, follow-up support projects include ▲Social entrepreneur talk concerts ▲Social value creation forums by social entrepreneurs ▲Pre-selection for the 2020 social entrepreneur nurturing project.

After completing the course, teams selected as excellent startup teams through an internal pre-selection evaluation will be recognized as ‘2021 Social Entrepreneur Nurturing Project Pre-selected Teams’.

Park Sang-seok, Director of Job Creation Division, said, “We expect the academy participants to play a leading role in driving Changwon City’s social economy sector,” and added, “We will do our best to support the discovery and nurturing of social economy entrepreneurs and the revitalization of a people-centered social economy.”
