[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 14th that it has imposed resident tax on about 29,000 cases, totaling 472 million KRW (28.6 million KRW for individual equal shares, 9.1 million KRW for business sites, and 9.5 million KRW for corporations). The payment period is from the 16th to the 31st of this month.
The equal-share resident tax imposed this year is a county tax levied on individual household heads residing in the jurisdiction and individual business owners and corporations with business sites as of July 1.
Those eligible under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act and single household heads under 30 years old whose direct ascendants are household heads are exempt from taxation.
Payment can be made via the taxpayer's virtual account, bank CD/ATM, or domestic credit card even without a tax notice.
Convenient electronic payment is available through Wetax, or payments can be made at all banks nationwide, post offices, NongHyup, Credit Unions, and Suhyup.
A Gochang-gun official said, “Although the equal-share resident tax is a small revenue source, it is used as a precious fund for enhancing the happiness and welfare of residents and for clean and pristine regional development, so we ask that payments be made within the deadline.” He added, “We also ask for active participation in electronic tax notice delivery through financial apps (financial institutions) in the future.”
