[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] Refugee applicants who assaulted a Korean man for refusing to lend cigarettes have been arrested.


On the 13th, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested two Moroccan refugee applicants on charges of robbery and injury.


They are accused of approaching a Korean man, Mr. A, in front of a cafe in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 3rd of this month, asking for cigarettes. After he refused and tried to leave, they assaulted him and took money from his wallet before fleeing.


Mr. A is reported to have sustained injuries requiring four weeks of medical treatment, including a broken nasal bone.
