Gwangju City, Additional Recruitment of Participants for Phase 2 Citizen Public Job Project

321 Personnel in 5 Projects Including Public Transportation Facility Disinfection Teams in the Field of Daily Quarantine

Gwangju City, Additional Recruitment of Participants for Phase 2 Citizen Public Job Project Gwangju City Hall

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that it will additionally recruit participants for the 2nd phase of the Citizen Public Job Project.

This recruitment was promoted to deploy additional quarantine personnel to multi-use facilities with high foot traffic such as bus, subway terminals, and public offices in order to establish a watertight COVID-19 quarantine network.

Gwangju City plans to implement the project by utilizing the additional budget request for the Hope Job Project submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the special support project budget such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor's COVID-19 regional employment response.

The recruitment fields are in the daily quarantine sector, including 250 members for public transportation facility quarantine teams, 41 for urban railway daily quarantine, 16 for operating thermal scanners at stations and terminals, and 14 for quarantine at public offices such as city hall, totaling 321 people.

Applicants must be Gwangju citizens aged 18 or older with the ability to work as of the announcement date (14th). Citizens in need of livelihood support due to the economic downturn can participate regardless of income or property, and university and graduate students are also eligible to participate.

In particular, priority will be given to vulnerable employment groups such as low-income individuals requiring urgent livelihood support, persons with disabilities, long-term unemployed for over six months, and those who have experienced job loss or business closure due to COVID-19.

Working hours are 15 to 25 hours per week (3 to 5 hours per day), and wages will be applied at the minimum wage (8,590 KRW per hour).

Applications can be submitted in person from the 14th to the 19th at city hall, the district office or administrative welfare center with jurisdiction over the applicant's address. Selected personnel will be announced on the 8th of next month and will be deployed to the project starting the 11th.

If the number of applicants falls short compared to the selection plan for each project, Gwangju City will assign applicants who wish to apply for other projects and lower-priority waiting candidates to similar projects with their consent.

Additionally, since the national government covers 90% of the public job project budget, in case of vacancies occurring at each stage, the city plans to promptly fill them according to priority among waiting candidates to enhance the performance of the job project and minimize expenditure.

For more details, inquiries can be made through the websites of Gwangju City and the five autonomous districts, the Gwangju City Call Center, or the Gwangju Citizen Public Job Center.

Lee Jeong-sam, head of the Citizen Public Job Support Center, said, “In the With Corona era, we will provide local public jobs to recover the depressed local economy and strengthen daily quarantine, aiming to catch two rabbits: revitalizing the local economy and enhancing daily quarantine.”
