Installation of Emergency Bells, Safety Training, and Provision of Personal Alarm Devices
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Jeonju City in Jeollabuk-do will install emergency bells so that workers at tourist facilities operated for travelers can respond quickly to emergencies such as crimes.
On the 13th, the city announced plans to improve security-related working conditions by installing emergency bells at six local tourist information centers and 14 Hanok Village cultural facilities, and providing 54 cultural interpreters with personal safety alarms.
This measure is a proactive response to the recent increase in disputes caused by refusal to wear masks and various crimes against women.
Specifically, the city decided to install Foot SOS emergency bells at tourist information centers such as Hanok Village and Jeonju Station, as well as cultural facilities including Jeonju Hanbyeok Culture Center and Eojin Culture Center.
The Foot SOS emergency bell is a security device that automatically reports to the 112 situation room or nearby police station when the foot pedal is pressed for 3 seconds during an emergency.
Additionally, the city will provide personal safety alarms to cultural tourism interpreters working with many unspecified travelers, and during winter, when visiting less frequented places after sunset, they will conduct tours in pairs.
Along with this, the city plans to prepare safety manuals with experts from related organizations such as the police station and provide training on emergency response procedures to tourist information center staff and interpreters.
The city expects that installing these emergency bells and providing alarms will improve the working conditions of employees exposed to external risks more safely.
Furthermore, the city plans to establish a system that allows solo tourists visiting Hanok Village to evacuate to the information center in case of an emergency.
Choi Rak-gi, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, “Improving security-related working conditions will relieve psychological anxiety and enhance internal satisfaction among employees. Since safety cannot be ignored when choosing tourist destinations, we will thoroughly inspect to ensure everyone feels safe and advance as a global tourist city recognized in various fields.”
