Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min and Senior Secretary for Personnel Kim Oe-sook Retained... Senior Secretary Personnel Completed with 5 Appointments Including Choi Jae-jung

[Asia Economy reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Son Seon-hee] President Moon Jae-in has rejected the resignation letter of Chief of Staff to the President, Noh Young-min.

A senior Blue House official told reporters on the 13th that the resignation letters of Chief of Staff Noh Young-min and Senior Secretary for Personnel Affairs Kim Oe-sook have been rejected. "You can consider that the personnel appointments above the senior secretary level at the Blue House have been finalized," the official said.

When asked if this meant President Moon’s decision was to reject the resignations, the senior Blue House official confirmed again, "They submitted their resignations, but there was a personnel announcement excluding Chief of Staff Noh Young-min. Since it has been finalized, you can interpret it that way."

Earlier, Chief of Staff Noh Young-min, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Kang Ki-jung, Senior Secretary for Public Communication Yoon Do-han, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Jo-won, Senior Secretary for Civil Society Kim Geo-seong, and Senior Secretary for Personnel Affairs Kim Oe-sook, all senior aides belonging to the Blue House Secretariat, submitted their resignations on the 7th as a gesture of taking comprehensive responsibility for recent situations.

They offered their resignations to take responsibility for political setbacks such as real estate controversies and declining public approval ratings, and a replacement of key aides including Chief of Staff Noh Young-min was expected. There were even rumors about potential successors for Chief of Staff Noh Young-min. However, with President Moon’s confirmed rejection of Chief of Staff Noh’s resignation, the matter was settled with his retention.

The Blue House has announced personnel results for five senior secretaries: Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Choi Jae-sung, Senior Secretary for Public Communication Jeong Man-ho, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Jong-ho, Senior Secretary for Civil Society Kim Je-nam, and Senior Secretary for Social Affairs Yoon Chang-ryeol.
