[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] An event commemorating the 75th anniversary of Liberation Day to reflect on the meaning of peace on the Korean Peninsula and to envision the future will be held at Paju Book City in Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that, in cooperation with Paju City, it will hold a "Peace Talk Show" under the theme "The Road to Peace! The Road to Unification!" at 2 p.m. on the 14th in the Jijihyang Grand Conference Room at Paju Book City.
At the talk show, panelists including Lee Jae-gang, Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, Choi Jong-hwan, Mayor of Paju City, Provincial Assembly members Jo Seong-hwan and Oh Ji-hye, and Ahn Jin-geol, Director of the Minsheng Research Institute, will discuss topics such as the meaning of August 15 Liberation Day, the impact of leaflet distribution to North Korea, Paju City as the Peace Capital of the Korean Peninsula, Gyeonggi Province as the center of peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula, and our attitude toward peace.
Additionally, the event will include a session to share Gyeonggi Province’s experience as the first local government to receive UN sanctions exemption approval for North Korea, exploring creative cooperation models between metropolitan and basic local governments in the field of inter-Korean exchange.
The province will also provide performances by the samulnori group "Neudat" and the band "bob" during the event.
Lee Jae-gang, Deputy Governor for Peace of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "The Peace Talk Show will be an opportunity to reflect on the true meaning of Liberation Day, build consensus among residents on inter-Korean exchanges, and foster a peaceful atmosphere."
The Peace Talk Show will be broadcast live online through OhmyTV (YouTube, Facebook) and the social broadcasting channel Live Gyeonggi.
