[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 13th that it has donated 1,000 medical protective suits worth approximately 30 million won free of charge to the National Testing Center under the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan to help Kazakhstan overcome the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) early.


Kazakhstan currently has seen a rapid increase in COVID-19 confirmed cases, reaching 110,000. The Korea Tourism Organization delivered the protective suits through cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on a humanitarian basis. These suits are scheduled to be delivered to medical facilities in Kazakhstan.


In Kazakhstan, 13,424 people visited Korea last year for medical tourism purposes, ranking eighth among countries visiting Korea for medical tourism. Kim Heung-soo, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty, said, "Cooperation between countries has become more important than ever to overcome COVID-19," adding, "We will strengthen cooperative relations by sharing Korea's medical technology and experience, which is receiving global attention as a model country for quarantine, with Kazakhstan."
