Overseas Stocks Can Be Ordered in 1,000 Won Units

[Asia Economy Reporter Koh Hyung-kwang] Korea Investment & Securities announced on the 13th that it has launched a mobile application (app) called 'Ministock' that allows easy trading of overseas stocks with small amounts.

Ministock is a service that enables even stock beginners to easily invest in overseas stocks with small amounts. Instead of having to purchase overseas stocks in units of one share, users can order in units of 1,000 KRW without separate currency exchange, allowing fractional purchases down to the sixth decimal place. For example, even Amazon stocks priced over 2 million KRW per share can be traded with just 10,000 KRW worth.

The registration and trading process has also been simplified. Opening a securities account is easy, and the user interface is designed to be accessible even for stock beginners. It provides simple explanations of investment terms and allows trading of multiple stocks with a single click through various investment themes and a shopping bag feature.

At launch, investment is possible in about 260 large-cap blue-chip stocks listed on the US stock market, including Google, Apple, Amazon, and Tesla. The available markets and stocks will be expanded in the future. To commemorate the launch, stock trades under 10,000 KRW can be made up to 10 times per month without fees until the end of this year.

Ministock was recognized for its innovation and designated as an 'Innovative Financial Service' by the Financial Services Commission last year. Jung Il-moon, CEO of Korea Investment & Securities, said, "The 20s and 30s generation and small investors can easily enter the asset management market and diversify investments across various markets," adding, "Ministock will contribute to expanding a healthy investment base."
