CJ CheilJedang Launches Three Varieties of Handmade Style Authentic Ham 'Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham'


[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] CJ CheilJedang announced on the 13th that it is renewing and expanding the existing ‘Baeksul Hamsville Bacon’ into the ‘Hamsville’ brand and launching three new products under the name ‘Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham.’ With the brand slogan ‘The Standard of Original Taste,’ the company plans to develop ‘Hamsville’ as an authentic Western-style handcrafted meat processing brand.


CJ CheilJedang recently carried out a brand renewal in line with the consumer trend favoring handcrafted hams focused on taste and flavor. Reflecting the increasing number of specialty stores where ham is enjoyed as a pairing with craft beer or wine, the company aims to enable consumers to enjoy a ‘ham platter’ from beer pubs and wine bars at home. Accordingly, they launched three types of ‘Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham,’ which are convenient and preserve the natural flavor of the meat as snack hams that can be eaten immediately.


The newly introduced ‘Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham’ comes in three varieties: beef, sirloin, and pork neck, under the concept of ‘a splendid snack you can eat right after opening’ as a ‘Cold Cut’ product. Cold cuts refer to sliced ham served chilled and are well known as wine accompaniments. All three types use premium raw meat carefully selected by CJ CheilJedang, aged at low temperature for more than 12 hours, then thoroughly smoked at over 90 degrees Celsius, allowing them to be enjoyed without any additional cooking. Additionally, they preserve the clean natural taste of the meat with a rich oak aroma and moist texture, making them perfect to enjoy with bread or crackers.


The Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham Beef (120g) is made from 100% beef, characterized by its savory flavor, and it is the first time in the industry that a cold cut product is made from beef instead of pork. The Hamsville Ready-to-Eat Ham Sirloin (140g), made from domestic pork, offers a moist and mild taste. The Ready-to-Eat Ham Pork Neck (120g) is sliced as is, maintaining a chewy texture.


These products are expected to be explosively popular among consumers as they can be conveniently enjoyed as snacks at home or used as a splendid ‘ham platter’ for camping and home parties. The price for all three types is 4,980 KRW at major supermarkets.


To commemorate the product launch, CJ CheilJedang will hold a ‘Home Vacation Special Exhibition’ at the food specialty mall CJ The Market starting from the 19th. In celebration of the vacation season, various ham products suitable for camping and vacations, including the new products and ‘Hamsville Good Bacon,’ will be offered at discounted prices to help consumers spend their holidays more meaningfully.


A CJ CheilJedang official stated, “The three new products under the ‘Hamsville’ brand were developed with the participation of professional meat processing masters, featuring the taste and flavor of high-end handcrafted ham.” He added, “We will continue to lead the domestic refrigerated ham market and expand consumer choices through the development of various products.”
