Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Center Selected as Intensive Support District
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) has been drawing attention for its multifaceted efforts to enhance child welfare, including expanding Our Neighborhood Care Centers to 10 locations after being selected as a focused support district for these centers, in response to the increasing demand for care and to realize care without blind spots.
Our Neighborhood Care Centers are after-school care spaces available to all children aged 6 to 12 in elementary school, where they can freely come and go either regularly or temporarily. These centers provide a space to do homework with care teachers and friends, play games they want, and rest.
During the school term, the centers operate from 1 PM to 8 PM after school, and during vacations, from 9 AM to 8 PM.
The usage fee, including snack costs, is within 50,000 KRW per month, and temporary care costs 2,500 KRW per day.
Applications can be made through the Our Neighborhood Care Portal or via phone consultation.
Seongbuk-gu currently operates Our Neighborhood Care Center Seongbuk No.1 (Byeolbyeol Jaeminan Classroom) in Jangwi 1-dong, and plans to open Seongbuk No.2 in Seokgwan-dong around October.
Additionally, the sites secured as part of the focused support district for Our Neighborhood Care Centers will undergo remodeling and are scheduled to open progressively from November through 2021.
Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, stated, “Seongbuk-gu will create Seongbuk-style Our Neighborhood Care Centers where children’s dreams and hopes blossom, realizing universal care without blind spots. Furthermore, we will do our best to make Seongbuk a great place to have and raise children.”
