Naver Launches Korea's First Global Research Evaluation Service

Overview of FWCI Index and Number of Publications at a Glance

[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Naver launched the global research evaluation service 'Scalytics' on the 12th.

Scalytics is a research evaluation solution that provides research performance indicators for countries, universities, departments, and researchers. Users can easily grasp research performance information such as the FWCI index, which indicates the qualitative level of research, the number of papers, and the number of citations.

Scalytics holds information on 170,000 research institutions, 20 million paper authors, and 150,000 journals. While existing research evaluation solutions only provide research performance by university, Scalytics also provides research performance by college and department units.

Unlike existing research evaluation solutions that mainly provide research performance information centered on English-language journals, Scalytics offers research performance of academic information written in Korean as well as English-language journal research performance, enabling evaluation of contributions by domestic researchers.

Naver plans to expand the use of Scalytics among research institutions domestically while supplementing local data from Asia such as Japan and China to launch Scalytics globally and compete with global companies. Yubong-seok, Naver's general manager, said, "As an objective measure of research performance, it will enable efficient investment in the academic field and fair compensation for researchers."
