President Moon Jae-in Announces Additional Senior Secretary Appointments at Blue House... Blue House Remains Reserved on Chief of Staff Noh Young-min's Position
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] On the 12th, President Moon Jae-in nominated Jeong Man-ho, former Deputy Governor for Economy of Gangwon Province, as the new Senior Secretary for Public Communication. Yoon Chang-ryeol, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination’s Government Operation Office, was nominated as the new Senior Secretary for Social Affairs.
Kang Min-seok, Blue House spokesperson, announced the results of the senior secretary appointments based on this information at the Chuncheon Press Center on the 12th. Kang said, "President Moon today nominated Jeong Man-ho, former Deputy Governor for Economy of Gangwon Province, as Senior Secretary for Public Communication, and Yoon Chang-ryeol, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination’s Government Operation Office, as Senior Secretary for Social Affairs," adding, "The new senior secretaries are scheduled to be appointed as of the 13th."
Jeong Man-ho, Senior Secretary for Public Communication, was born in 1958 and graduated from Han Young High School in Seoul, majored in Economics at Korea University, and earned a master's degree in Public Administration from Myongji University. He has served as Deputy Governor for Economy of Gangwon Province, Head of KT Media Division, Policy Situation Secretary and Protocol Secretary at the Presidential Secretariat, and as Economic, Social, and International Department Chief at Korea Economic Daily.
Spokesperson Kang said, "Senior Secretary Jeong Man-ho is a former journalist with a high understanding of politics and economics and is recognized for his excellent communication skills both domestically and internationally," adding, "He is expected to convey government operations to the public in an easy and accurate manner, thereby expanding consensus on policy effectiveness."
Yoon Chang-ryeol, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs, graduated from Daeseong High School in Wonju, Gangwon Province, majored in Diplomacy at Seoul National University, and earned a master's degree in Public Administration from American University in the United States. He is a career public official who has served as Director of the Government Operation Office, Director of the Social Coordination Office, Manager of Government Task Management, and Director of Education, Culture, and Women’s Policy at the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He passed the 34th Administrative Examination.
Spokesperson Kang evaluated, "Senior Secretary Yoon Chang-ryeol has held key positions such as Director of the Government Operation Office and Director of the Social Coordination Office, and possesses a balanced perspective on overall government operations as well as outstanding policy coordination capabilities in welfare, education, culture, environment, women, and social sectors."
Both Senior Secretaries Jeong Man-ho and Yoon Chang-ryeol were originally multi-homeowners owning two houses, but it is known that one house was disposed of through a sales contract. A senior Blue House official said, "They can be considered as effectively owning one house."
Meanwhile, the Blue House remained reserved regarding the resignation of Chief Presidential Secretary Noh Young-min. A senior Blue House official said, "Whether there will be additional personnel changes is a matter concerning the president’s personnel authority, so it is difficult to respond."
