Wave, Korea's leading online video service (OTT), announced on the 12th that it has expanded its monthly subscription movies from about 3,500 titles to 5,900 titles.
The updated featured works include new releases such as 'Astronomy: Asking the Sky,' 'More Than Family,' and 'Black Money,' as well as popular Sony Pictures titles like 'Resident Evil 2~3,' 'Charlie's Angels,' and 'Jerry Maguire.'
In 'wavvie Cinema,' Warner Bros.' popular movies 'The Witch,' 'Clowns: The Rumor Manipulators,' and 'The Battleship Island: Forgotten Heroes' are exclusively offered through the monthly subscription service. Additionally, through separate contracts with some film distributors, movies that are only available for individual purchase on other platforms are exclusively supplied and serviced under the monthly subscription.
Besides new and popular titles, classic masterpieces that led the golden age of Hong Kong cinema are also being massively updated. By October, about 200 titles featuring popular actors such as Leslie Cheung, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-fat, Stephen Chow, and Tony Leung will be sequentially released. These movies can be found in the Wave 'Movies' menu.
Kim Hong-gi, head of the Content Wave Business Planning Group, said, "As Wave users' movie viewing volume increases, we are expanding investments by not only increasing the number of monthly subscription movies but also enhancing service quality by adding exclusive popular titles."
Meanwhile, Wave is also holding a viewing event to celebrate the wavvie Cinema update, where users who watch recommended movies such as 'The Divine Fury' and 'Moonlit Winter' will be entered into a draw to win generous prizes like smart TVs and massage guns.
