[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The National Movement Headquarters Against the Capital Relocation (hereinafter referred to as the Movement Headquarters), led by former lawmaker Lee Jae-oh, who is the standing advisor of the United Future Party, will hold a debate opposing the capital relocation to Sejong City.
The Movement Headquarters announced on the 11th that it will hold a debate titled 'What is the problem with the capital relocation?' at 2 p.m. on the 12th at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, opposing the ruling party's push for relocating the capital to Sejong City.
The debate will feature Kim Jong-in, the emergency committee chairman of the United Future Party, who is scheduled to deliver a congratulatory speech. The seminar panel will include six participants: lawmaker Lee Dal-gon of the United Future Party, Professor Kim Hyung-gi, Professor Emeritus at Kyungpook National University, Professor Je Sung-ho of Chung-Ang University, lawyers Lee Soo-hee and Kwon Oh-hyun, and Yang Ki-yeol, youth chairman of the National Integration Solidarity.
Standing representative Lee stated, "It is necessary to reconsider why the ruling party's floor leader proposed the administrative capital relocation through a representative speech in the National Assembly at this point," adding, "It is a trick to avoid the plummeting approval ratings of the president and the ruling party, caused by the government's successive failures in real estate policies and a series of sexual crime scandals involving ruling party metropolitan local government heads."
