Climbing, Cycling, Skiing, and Rowing Now Enjoyable Indoors... Indoor Gym Incorporating ICT and Virtual Reality Technology Opens on the 12th

Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) announced that it will hold an online opening ceremony for the smart gym FUN-GYM, where youth can freely run and play, on the 12th.
The smart gym, located on the first floor of the Gangseo Youth Center, is an indoor sports facility that combines information and communication technology and virtual reality technology so that youth can enjoy various sports regardless of weather conditions such as fine dust, heat waves, or cold waves.
It offers six types of exercises?Funboard, Funbike, Funrowing, FunSki, FunClimbing, and FunBalance?implemented on screens so that friends can enjoy exercising together like playing games.
Funrowing is a full-body workout using a rowing motion that strengthens muscle and muscular endurance, while Funboard uses an elastic board to assist aerobic exercise and help reduce body fat.
In addition, preparations have been completed so that youth can enjoyably build physical strength using various equipment.
There is also an integrated management system that measures and analyzes body composition and activity levels to take responsibility for youth health.
Youth who wish to use the facility (height 140cm or above) can make a reservation by calling the Gangseo Youth Center. However, they must have a youth ID card issued within the district.
The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. Closed days include New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, Chuseok, and other designated days announced in advance.
Until the 31st, a program inviting underprivileged youth will be held, and from September, reservations for use will begin. The usage fee is free until the end of this year.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "The youth smart gym started as a project proposed through the district residents' participatory budget," adding, "I hope it becomes a new play culture space where youth can healthily relieve stress."
On the 5th, a completion ceremony was held with the mayor, the chairperson of the district council, the chairman of the (Corporation) Heungsadan, and youth representatives attending. The online opening ceremony will introduce the smart gym ahead of its full operation in September and can be viewed on iGangseo TV and the Youth Center’s YouTube channel on the 12th.
