[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] InderKeg announced on the 11th that it has started selling its B2B craft beer brewing device, ‘InderKeg,’ in the Korean market.
The company sold its products on the 7th to the franchise pub ‘Waba’ Samsung branch and the bakery cafe ‘Double Glass’ located in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. Additionally, supply contracts with more than 50 pubs have already been completed, and production is being expedited. Furthermore, contracts with hotel franchises, resorts, and golf courses are underway, and the product’s distribution channels are expected to expand further.
InderKeg is a device that ferments and matures wort, the raw material of beer, to produce beer. The 18ℓ dedicated plastic container called SmartKeg contains wort brewed using traditional brewing methods along with yeast capsules. Brewing beer is completed within 7 days simply by connecting the SmartKeg to the device and pressing the ‘Start’ button on the control pad at the top of the device. Since there is no distribution process, the beer can be sold immediately on-site. The control pad allows users to check the status (brewing in progress, brewing completed) and remaining quantity of the beers connected to the device.
The SmartKeg can connect up to 10 units within the device, allowing the production of up to 180 liters of 10 different flavors of beer. Its width and height are only 88 cm and 2 meters, respectively, showing an appearance roughly the size of a typical household refrigerator. Additionally, the device has wheels attached to the bottom for easy mobility, enabling installation without space constraints in liquor-selling establishments.
InderKeg’s AI-based fermentation algorithm always achieves optimal fermentation conditions. Moreover, its world-first filter-type infusing method is a unique and differentiated technology that allows for a diverse and rich enjoyment of beer’s taste and aroma.
The device also stands out in terms of beer flavor and hygiene management. It adopts triple oxidation prevention technology, which can maintain the original beer taste for up to six months. This reduces the burden of inventory disposal for stores, and the built-in automatic sterilization and cleaning functions eliminate the hassle of washing.
InderKeg won innovation awards in two categories at CES 2020 and is also known for the so-called ‘InderKeg Law,’ which led to the revision of the existing liquor tax law that only recognized beverages with over 1% alcohol as alcoholic beverages. As of now, all contracted quantities through September have been sold out, and additional production is underway. Following its domestic launch, InderKeg plans to sequentially expand its release to China, the United States, India, and other countries. Inquiries about purchasing the device and SmartKegs can be made through the company’s website.
Meanwhile, a craft beer pub selling beer made exclusively with the InderKeg device is scheduled to open in mid-June in Yeoksam-dong. Under the franchise name ‘KegBrew,’ this pub will offer various types of beer brewed with the InderKeg device at prices more affordable than existing craft beer pubs.
Kang Tae-il, CEO of InderKeg, said, “We will expand the supply targets of InderKeg devices to craft beer pubs, golf courses, resorts, and more, providing craft beer enthusiasts with the experience and enjoyment of various types of beer.”
