Gangbuk-gu '15 Minutes+ Time to Change My Body' Program Participants Recruitment

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) is launching the ‘15 Minutes+ Time to Change My Body’ Smart Health Tour program from September to November and is recruiting 108 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

The project is linked with the ‘You, Me, and Us’ stamp healing tour course, which connects the Modern History Memorial Hall, April 19 Observatory, Pine Tree Rest Area, and Ui-dong Meeting Plaza.

Participants will check their blood pressure, blood sugar, and other health indicators once a week at one of the two baseline points of the walking course: the Modern History Memorial Hall or the Ui-dong Meeting Plaza Health Experience Zone (ZONE). Afterward, they will receive 15 minutes of exercise education and guidance. The 12-week program includes stretching before and after walking, correct walking methods, muscle-specific stretching techniques, lower body strength exercises, and circulatory strength exercises.

After exploring the 5.4 km tour course, participants will recheck their physical condition at the Health Experience Zone located at the end of the course to observe changes in their body through exercise.

The program is open to all Gangbuk-gu residents and users of the Health Experience Zones. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the district plans to stagger the number of participants. Classes will be held at the Ui-dong Meeting Plaza on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and at the Modern History Memorial Hall Health Experience Zone on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Additionally, class times are divided into 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., with a maximum of six participants per hour.

To motivate participants, the district will provide walking coupons and offer incentives such as socks and hand sanitizers based on the number of sessions attended.

The application period is from August 12 to 30. Those interested can apply by visiting the Modern History Memorial Hall or the Ui-dong Meeting Plaza Health Experience Zone.

Mayor Park Gyeom-su of Gangbuk-gu said, “By participating in this program, residents will be able to improve their health management skills and prevent chronic diseases. We hope many people interested in this project, which also helps uplift spirits dampened by COVID-19, will apply.”
