[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the Future United Party, recently claimed that the damage caused by landslides due to heavy rain was "the result of the Moon Jae-in administration, which forced the nuclear phase-out after watching a movie and ignored expert warnings to push solar power generation, thereby increasing disaster damage."

On the 10th, Ha wrote on his Facebook, "One of the main causes of the severe landslide damage this time is the solar power facilities built on mountains."

He added, "Since the Moon administration took office, a total of 2.33 million trees have been cut down nationwide in mountainous areas to build solar power facilities. Experts have long warned that cutting down trees and installing solar power facilities would increase landslide damage caused by heavy rain."

Ha also argued that the Four Major Rivers Restoration Project promoted by the previous Lee Myung-bak administration could have reduced flood damage caused by heavy rain.

He said, "As the Seomjin River embankment collapsed and rivers overflowed, a reevaluation of the Four Major Rivers Project is underway. The Seomjin River basin suffered the most damage from this sudden heavy rain. Since the Seomjin River was included in the Four Major Rivers Project and tributary and branch stream maintenance projects continued, this disaster damage could have been greatly reduced."

He continued, "However, the Moon administration opposed the Four Major Rivers Project simply because it was promoted by the Lee Myung-bak administration, and after coming to power, labeled it as a deep-rooted evil and even forcibly dismantled the dam. Tributary and branch stream maintenance projects were also halted," he criticized.

He emphasized, "If the riverbed depth is dug several meters deeper to increase the river's rainwater capacity several times, there is naturally a flood prevention effect. Since ancient times, mountain conservation and flood control have been the foundation of national governance. No political logic should interfere with this."
