[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] A mushroom presumed to be the rare species 'Daenggual Mushroom' was recently discovered in Hamyang, Gyeongnam, attracting attention.

On the 10th, Kim Kwang-yeon (62, female), who operates Baekdu Farm in Baekjeon-myeon, Hamyang-gun, announced that she found a single round ball-shaped mushroom at the farm.

The farm is located at an altitude of 850 meters in the Baekdudaegan mountain range, and the mushroom, about 20 cm in diameter with a white surface, is presumed to be a Daenggual Mushroom.

The lower part of the farm grows Omija, and the upper part cultivates wild ginseng; the mushroom was found in the forest near the wild ginseng field.

Kim said, "Around the 20th of last month, I also found a similarly shaped mushroom in the same place, but at that time, not knowing anything, I pulled it out and threw it away."

The Daenggual Mushroom reproduces by its mycelium dropping underground and re-emerging the following summer when growth conditions are met.

The Daenggual Mushroom is likely to continue appearing in summer and autumn if soil and climate growth conditions are maintained in organic-rich bamboo groves, grasslands, or thickets.
